Nemesis (n.)

1) An opponent or rival whom a person cannot best or overcome; 2) A person’s undoing; 3) Joshua Templeman.

Lucy Hutton and Joshua Templeman hate each other. Not dislike. Not begrudgingly tolerate. Hate. And they have no problem displaying their feelings through a series of ritualistic passive aggressive maneuvers as they sit across from each other, executive assistants to co-CEOs of a publishing company. Lucy can’t understand Joshua’s joyless, uptight, meticulous approach to his job. Joshua is clearly baffled by Lucy’s overly bright clothes, quirkiness, and Pollyanna attitude.

Now up for the same promotion, their battle of wills has come to a head and Lucy refuses to back down when their latest game could cost her her dream job…But the tension between Lucy and Joshua has also reached its boiling point, and Lucy is discovering that maybe she doesn’t hate Joshua. And maybe, he doesn’t hate her either. Or maybe this is just another game (Goodreads)

First of all this actually deserved a two star and not even three. I wanted to give it one but unfortunately I liked the story from exactly pg338 onwards. The only thing I absolutely loved was Lucy standing up for Josh against Anthony and finally giving Anthony a piece of her mind, other than that I just couldn't understand what's the hype about.

I haven't watched the movie yet and I hope it will be at least a bit better. Usually my theory is that the book is way better than the live adaptation but whatever.

I bought this one first and was on the line about buying the Spanish Deception because this had so many good reviews while the other had bad ones, a lot in fact. I was on the verge of throwing the book away because for me it made no sense. I did my best to like it but I just couldn't do it. One youtuber said this book is about a sexually frustrated couple and in less than 100pgs I completely agreed with her. This had the potential to become a great novel but for me it just didn't live up to the expectation and the hype I got before starting it!!

But if you like the grumpyxsunshine, office romance tropes this one is for you and honestly to decide whether you'll like it or not, you have to read and see. For me this was such a big flop (I do love Lucy, Josh, Elaine, Helene and specially Lucy's parents), which I regret buying when I could've saved the money and bought another book!!!

However, there were some good quotes in it!

This one is my favorite quote because it is so damn true!!!!!!

Just give this book a try and see whether it is your cup of tea!!

Ps. I watched the movie. WTH???????????????? I was so looking forward to Lucy giving a piece of her mind to Anthony just like the book and the movie degraded that part to a whole new level!!!!! ARGHHHHHH that part was what I was looking for and it was shit. Period. A complete waste for me!!!!!!!

(read first two and then the last two)

This... This is what i'm talking about!!!!!! The only major scene I absolutely like from the entire novel!!!!!!!!!!
